peevish...who me...?
My oldest daughter just had the crap scared out of her. She found a lump, went to the doctor, who told her it was probably cancer. So she went in for a biopsy… it turned out to be an infected lymph gland. … What’s the matter with our medical system? They couldn’t tell the difference between cancer and an infected lymph gland without having to do a biopsy. What about CT scanning, Magnetic Resonance, Ultrasound,…something? Oh… the medical doesn’t cover any of those, so you can only find out by cutting?... If I sound a little peevish… oh well… maybe if everyone (not just the rich) could afford to see their doctor if their erections last longer than 72 hrs (or maybe get the proper testing and scans…) I wouldn’t… seem so peevish…

no - any dr can not tell the difference between a gland or cyst/tumor without viewing it first.
[with that presenting in my ER, it would have come straight to ultrasound]
even with a scan, it still would be touch and go and would probably go to biopsy anyway.
the only way it wouldn't go to biopsy would be if it's a fluid filled cyst with no questionable findings.
but even with that, it would be backed up with repeat scans to follow up.
an infected lymph gland might look like a solid tumor on scan but it will have different characteristics. that would probably get an immediate biopsy, too.
bottom line - she should have not been told of a biopsy immediately.
that's bad doctor-ing.
ooo... when did i get to be such an authority?!

sorry, but i still don't think much of our medical system...and/or our "equal" access to it...;-)~
