Birthdays

Birthdays, mine in particular, times to reflect on my long life. Usually I endeavor to live in the present, not contemplate the past or the future too much...nothing I can do about the past (damage control at best, but pretty much a waste of time and energy). The future?... pure speculation since there is no such thing as security (an illusion) and nothing is certain outside of change, even though we plan, try to anticipate, strategize, fantasize, it still all comes to naught, considering the ephemeral nature of our (so-called) reality, the brief and transitory nature of everything in our “human” realm.

Do I seem a little wistful? Don’t know why, I really don’t have much to complain about personally, though I find plenty wrong with our society, and the world in general, its greed, intolerance (especially religious and social), and misguided hero worship of the real villians of our time (those who are anathema to the positive freedom and evolution of the so-called Aquarian age) and sports figures (too much to say about that for this brief blog)...like they really contribute anything meaningful to this (or any other) society. I guess I’m also discussed by the inability to shake our social conditioning, me and most everyone else.

Be that as it may, again, I usually endeavor to live in the moment. I’ve given up trying to influence or change others... I’ve come to believe that it can’t be done. We can’t even really change ourselves, with the exception of forcing ourselves to experience the present moment to its fullest, regardless of what any actual moment entails, love making (or any emotional/physical intensity), work, hardship, pain, whatever...embrace it... these are all there really is to life. By really focusing on them while we are in them, (this is our real life), acquiescing to it, we live... and by so doing, set examples that other can use for inspiration (if they so choose).

After all, it’s a matter of choice, isn’t it? True, there is little we have any real choice about, except where we train ourselves to focus our attention...there we have a little control, at least...;-)
